Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup dried cherries or chopped maraschino cherries
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and dried cherries until evenly distributed.
Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops look slightly cracked.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
